The South American nation of Ecuador appears to be in a state of meltdown, experiencing its worst security crisis in decades. A general state of lawlessness has seemed to dominate the nation since the end of the pandemic, with homicide rates rising, violent prison riots dominating national headlines, rising inflation,  and growing nationwide protests.

This is not business as usual in Ecuador. These issues and their corresponding statistics have skyrocketed since the pandemic, making a bad situation worse. As the strain in politics, economies, and societies worsens around the globe, the people of Ecuador are feeling the pinch.
