Recognizing the language of principles within scripture is incredibly significant to our understanding of its true intent. The Word of God is not a history book, a science book, or even a political book. It is a book full of principles that reveal God’s nature and heart. When we discover this language of principles, those principles also glorify God and bring light and life to our situation.
This is the authentic nature of a developed spiritual worldview. It is not in the hooky, spooky mysticism that we discounted in the last edition of this newsletter series. It is also not in the misleading debates of figurative versus liberal perspectives of scripture. A developed spiritual worldview leads us to recognize the language of principles within the Word of God. Those principles become the undergirding infrastructure that upholds our values, politics, and concepts of morality and right and wrong.
Consider some current events and issues where believers could be misguided when they embrace the literal or figurative perspective on scripture instead of the language of principles.
