Reading Time: < 1 minute

I was always a fan of history. Even as a child, I loved reading the stories of great wars, great figures, and significant times in which the story of the world pivoted from one era to the next. I often wondered what it must have felt like to live in the great eras and moments of historical transition. For example, did the people we identify today as the greatest generationrecognize the significance of the times they lived? Did the call of great statesmen like Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill rouse them to the challenges of economic collapse and the battle for freedom – or were they simply trying to survive?

Today, many of us carry an unspecified ‘sensing.’ It lies just below the level of conscious awareness and whispers that our present era is one filled with historical significance. Our part in the human story is pregnant with anticipation and perhaps a potential dread for what is about to arrive.

The upcoming national elections play a part in this, but not the whole part. We don’t sense this because our leaders and influencers have said, “This is the most important election of our lifetime.” I do not remember an election in my lifetime when they didn’t say that. Nevertheless, the desperation in their tone, from both sides, does lend itself to the sentiment weighty moments are afoot.
